LOUISE WHELAN-NEW SETTLERS: Limited Edition

80.00 100.00

NEW SETTLERS documents the diversity of people who immigrate to Australia, and defies the prejudice and stereotyping embedded in parts of society. It is common in media coverage to play on fear in the community and demonize boat people.

What does Australia look like? What is the face of Australia today? Who are the people that now make up the Great South Land that fascinated explorers and attracted them, in their tiny boats, to venture forth to a new continental country?

The limited edition of one Type-C print in edition of 50 includes:

Cloth hardcover book: 220mm (W) x 290mm (D) / 8.6 x 11.5 in. 96 pages with 66 colour plates. Text by the Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG One-time Justice of the High Court of Australia and Fiona Upward. Signed by the photographer.

One Type-C print on Fuji Crystal Archive Flex (19 x 26 cm /7 x 10 in) numbered and signed by the photographer on reverse of print. Portrait of Kaloti Parmjit, taken on the stairs leading to the temple at the Australian Sikh Association, the largest registered body of the Sikhs in the southern hemisphere. Glenwood, New South Wales. 2012.
